Inspector Campagna receives a call for help from his friend Tagliaferro, ex-policeman who has spent many years overseeing the security services for the Presuttis, a powerful family in Trieste. Federica, the young woman with whom he is in love, is a model and aspiring actress but was the mistress of Francesco Presutti. She was with him when, during a night of love-making full of viagra and cocaine, he died of a heart attack. A dangerous witness, Federica has disappeared – in all probability at the hands of Malavasi, ex-second in command to Tagliaferro, who replaced him as the head of Presutti’s security services.
